UK peas and beans

Or how we can contribute to UK food security by eating UK-grown pulses.
'On the Pulse' summary:
The background
Pulses are beans & peas
Pulses are cheap & nutritious & versatile & store well
Pulses have been grown in the UK since Roman times
The problem
Most UK-grown pulses are exported or fed to animals
Nearly all pulses in UK shops are imported
This is a very very stupid situation
The solution
We can switch to eating UK-grown pulses. The only obstacles are lack of local availability and our natural reluctance to embrace change. So
- Ask your local shops to stock them
- Support this brilliant initiative:
- Hold a beanfeast: Buy in bulk with friends, share food, swap recipes and take pulses home
- Make sure you know where your food is grown
That was easy!
